Strangeways

I awake in the morning to a harsh scraping sound
Respect and courtesy are things of the past in this town
And I've no idea what's happening these days
The world has come upon some strange strangeways

We're isolated from the world, trapped in our cage
Locked away tight until we're stricken with age
We go 'round again, down the same bullshit road
The same places we've been until we're feeble and old

They say "Always remember not to do what's been done
Pass them by slowly and don't be overrun"
But they'll never lend a hand, not in a single way
The world has come upon some strange strangeways

Strangeways
Strange strange strangeways

And now the future's uncertain and the end is unclear
But I won't go away, no, I'll always be here
We don't deserve the struggle that our paths have shown
But I'd rather struggle with you than be free and alone

I used to be stronger, it didn't hurt so much
Our deceptive bodies and the trickery of touch
But I've no idea what's happening these days
The world has come upon some strange strangeways
